so... I'll have to read it.
Marine was named after Marine la petite pirate, a comic I loved to read when I was a child. I always thought that if I had a girl, I would name her Marine (I would have love to become such an assured, smiling and courageous girl, I so I wished that for my baby).
Lou was named after Appolinaire's poems. These "Poèmes à Lou" are (I think) the most beautiful love poems in the whole world.
Both of them have their copies of these books. I wonder if they will remind exactly on which shelf it was...

My copy was white with black lettering - it fell apart years ago from decay but I and the book were close to Salinger in age! That was beautiful. Thanks.

Nice, nice, nice. An old friend just confessed to me that her own nickname, Boo Boo, was one she adopted herself from the Glass family.

My own copy has its place of honor in Michigan. With the possible exception of my original hardback of On The Road, it is my most treasured book.

Hoping you are as well as can be...you are in our thoughts.
